Hi, Sarah and Brandon Sherwood here,

Hi there! We’re Sarah and Brandon Sherwood, and we want to share a little story about why we opened Heartland Suites. This home is truly our passion project, built from our hearts, our experiences, and our love for seniors in Pryor, Oklahoma.

For Sarah, the memory of her great-grandma still stays with her. She shaped so much of who she is today, yet when she was in assisted living, she was often treated like just a number. When her grandma passed, some caregivers even stole family heirlooms. Those experiences left a lasting mark, and she vowed to create a place where seniors and their families are treated with the dignity, care, and love they deserve.

Brandon had a similar wake-up call with his own great-grandmother. During COVID, she was in a nursing home, isolated and lonely, and her health began to decline rapidly. Seeing her struggle, often alone, showed him just how critical it is for seniors to feel seen, cared for, and connected—every single day.

These experiences shaped our vision for Heartland Suites: a boutique-style, home-like assisted living environment where safety, comfort, and human connection come first. We wanted a place where staff are truly invested in the residents’ lives, not just checking boxes. From fresh home-cooked meals to cozy spaces that encourage conversation and companionship, every detail is designed to make seniors feel at home.

Our approach is guided by our faith, but it’s always centered on making people feel welcomed, loved, and comfortable—without anyone feeling like religion is being forced on them. That vision is reflected in our name and the continous reminders of hearts throughout the home.

Heartland Suites is also a blend of our backgrounds: Brandon’s construction experience and Sarah’s mental health therapy and social work training come together to create a safe, nurturing environment where seniors can truly thrive.

Heartland Suites Residential Assisted Living is newly open, thoughtfully restored, and now accepting resident applications and private tours. With limited beds available, we welcome families from Pryor, Chouteau, Locust Grove, Salina, Adair, Claremore, Bixby, Owasso, Vinita, Mayes County, Wagoner, Inola, Tahlequah, and the surrounding Northeast Oklahoma communities who are searching for “assisted living near me” and want a warm, residential home instead of a large corporate model.
